Company overview
Created in 1995, Opal is a designer and distributor of prescription eyeglass frames for opticians. The company has gradually established itself as the number 1 player in France in niche markets such as children and budget-friendly options. Since 2015, the Group has also ventured into the sports eyewear sector following the acquisition of Demetz. In early 2024, the company expands its focus to Made In France with the acquisition of Roussilhe, a French creator, manufacturer, and distributor of eyeglass frames based in Oyonnax (Rhône-Alpes-Auvergne/France).
The Group offers a product range consisting of eight proprietary brands, twelve licensed brands, and a few distributor brands.
The production of frames is outsourced to long-standing subcontracting partners, with centralized logistics organized at a dedicated site of 3,350 square meters in Limonest (Rhône-Alpes-Auvergne/France).
Our approach
With the support of the Impact team, Opal aims to continue its organizational development with the recent acquisition of Roussilhe and accelerate its consolidation policy to strengthen its market share. Our ambition is to assist the Group in its expansion strategy within France and internationally, transforming it in becoming a key player in both the French and European markets.
Making a difference
Opal’s business addresses social challenges through the design and sale of accessible health devices for everyone. It also contributes to societal goals through the revitalization of the expertise in the production of Made In France eyeglass frames, achieved through the acquisition of Roussilhe.
