Serge Weinberg - Chairman & Founder
Serge Weinberg founded Weinberg Capital Partners in 2005.
Prior to that, Serge served for ten years as Chairman of the Management Board of PPR, which later became Kering.
In 1990, he joined the Pinault group (later to become PPR), where he drove international growth. Together with François Pinault, he also engineered the group's decisive entry into the luxury sector by simultaneously acquiring Gucci and Yves Saint-Laurent, followed by other brands (Boucheron, Bottega Veneta and Sergio Rossi). Before taking the helm at the group, he headed CDME, which later became Rexel, where he implemented an active external growth policy, completing 40 acquisitions of local, often family-owned companies. This enabled Rexel to nearly double in size between 1991 and 1995 and to double its earnings and capitalization.
From 1987 to 1990, Serge was Managing Director of Pallas Finances, a financial company specialising in mergers and acquisitions, where he became the adviser to François Pinault for the acquisition of a shareholding in CFAO. He began his professional career with the French government, where he worked for seven years before becoming Managing Director in 1983 and then Chairman of the Management Board of Havas Tourisme.
Former Chairman of Accor, Serge is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sanofi.
Serge has a law degree and is a graduate of the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris and an alumnus of the École Nationale d'Administration.
