Serge Weinberg - Chairman & Founder
Chairman of the ESG Committee
Serge began his career in various civil service bodies where he spent 7 years before joining the corporate world.
In 1983, he joined the Havas group where he was Managing Director and then Chairman of the Management Board of Havas Tourism.
From 1987 to 1990, Serge was Managing Director of Pallas Finances, a financial company specialized in mergers and acquisitions. In this context, he became François Pinault's Advisor for the acquisition of a stake in the capital of CFAO.
In 1990, he joined the Pinault group, which became PPR (and later Kering). In 1995, he became head of the group and gave it a strong international impetus. In 1999, with François Pinault, he also signed the Group's decisive entry into the luxury sector. Before taking over as head of the Group, he managed CDME, which became Rexel, where he implemented an active external growth policy, making forty acquisitions of local companies, often family-owned. He thus enabled Rexel to almost double in size between 1991 and 1995, while doubling its earnings and capitalization.
After 10 years as Chairman of the Management Board of PPR, now Kering, he created Weinberg Capital Partners in 2005.
A former Chairman of Accor, Serge is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sanofi.
Serge has a Law degree, is a graduate of the Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris and is a former student of the École Nationale d'Administration.
Passionate about public affairs, Serge wrote "Armée-Nation, le rendez-vous manqué" under the pseudonym Serge Vignemont.
He is a Commander of the Legion of Honour.
Serge Weinberg is a founding member and treasurer of the Institut du cerveau and of the spinal marrow. In 2005, he created Télémaque in order to offer scholarships to deserving high school children.
